Journal #6

I took this picture at my grandparents house on Wednesday morning. This tree is about 50 years old, but it is HUGE, and is probably about twice the height of the house which is right next to it. It's also really thick. I like this picture, because I think that the twisting branches look very cool against the background sky. If I could retake this picture, I would either wait until the sky was a more interesting color than the blue it is, or I would find a better angle to take the picture from, because I feel like this one is kind of awkward.

Journal #5

This picture was taken in my grandparent's house on Wednesday. I'm not completely sure what kind of plant it is, but I think it is really pretty. I especially like how alive and green it looks, which is a pretty large contrast to the weather outside right now. I took this picture with my iPod, and the flash was on, which is why the flower is so pink and everything behind it looks black. If I could change something, I would probably try and get more of the plant in focus, instead of just the flower.

Elements of Design- Final Products

Line

Aperture:  f /4.5
Shutter Speed:  1/15
ISO:  400

I took this picture in the storage closet in the gym. I like how the lines in the fencing came in so clear, and everything behind them is blurry. In bridge, I had to brighten it a lot, because it was pretty dark. One thing that I really don't like about this photo, is the background of it. It wasn't anything I could change, but I think it would have been nicer if there weren't a bunch of bags and bins in the background.

Texture

Aperture:  f /5.6
Shutter Speed:  1/200
ISO:  400

This picture was taken outside of the school on one of the sidewalks. I like the packed down snow, and how it is a lot of different colors and textures.  On e thing I really wish was different, is the crispness of the snow in the image. I think it looks a little blurry, which I don't really like. I had to brighten it a lot, because when I was outside, I really couldn't see how my pictures were coming out, because I couldn't see the screen.

Shape

Aperture:  f /4.5
Shutter Speed:  1/8
ISO:  400

I took this picture on the bleachers in the gym. I like this image, because I really enjoy basketball. I think that it works well for shape, because you can see the shadows around the edges of the round ball. I sort of manipulated the colors in bridge, because the colors of the original image were very cool, and I thought it looked kind of weird. Once I warmed up the colors, I think that the image came out a lot better. If I could change something about this, I would place the ball so the corner of the bleachers wasn't blocking some of it.

Pattern

Aperture:  f /4.5
Shutter Speed:  1/10
ISO:   400

This is a close up picture of some of the "feathers" on the chicken sculpture in the hallway. I really like the variety of patterns in this photo, and I especially like the bright colors in the "feathers". I had to brighten up this photo A LOT, because it was very dark, but I am really happy with the way it turned out. If I could change something about this photo, I think I would have gotten even more "feathers" in it, to create a wider variety of patterns.

Journal #4- Missed Opportunity

On Monday during the snowstorm, I let my dog outside, and when I brought her back in, she was completely covered in snow. Her name is Daisy, and she is a eleven year old beagle. I really wanted to get a picture of her snow covered face and body, but by the time I got my camera, the snow had already melted off of her. I wish I had gotten the picture, because she looked so cute with all the white snowflakes covering her face and eyes. Next time I let her outside in a snowstorm, I will definitely make sure to have my camera on and ready when she comes back inside.

Journal #3

I took this picture at my grandparents house in Putney last week. It was about 7:00am, and the sun was just coming up over the mountains. The lighting looked really pretty, so I thought I'd take a picture. I like the definition of the clouds, and how you can see the individual rays of sun. If I could change something about this picture, I would've gone outside to take it instead of taking it through a window, so it was more clear. I also would try to get the little green reflection dot out of the photo.
